Required Packages for Royal Render


You require these packages to be installed.

If you have installed Linux with UI (XWindows), 

then checking these dependencies should be sufficient:

yum --showduplicates list libva
to see if your distro has version 1 available.

If you have installed a minimal Linux version without UI for the rrClient or rrServer daemon, 

then you have to check for these dependencies.

If you execute these apps in commandline mode (e.g. --help), it still requires the libraries to exist. 
BUT XWindows libs are not used in commandline mode.
It is just that Linux verifies they exist in case you might want to start the app in UI mode.

We have collected some packages that you might want to install depending on which render app or fileserver you use


  • Optional: 
    Midnight commander is a graphical interface for the terminal to edit text files, browse folders, change file rights, copy files, ...
    Start it with the global command  mc  OR with   sudo mc   to change/copy protected files.
    yum install mc
    yum install unzip  (to open zip files in mc as if they are a folder)

  • Optional:
    Double Commander
    A file browser like mc, but this time for your UI desktop/XWindows .

  • Install SMB/CIFS mount applications:
    yum install cifs-utils

  • Install NFS mount applications:
    yum install nfs-utils

  • Install realm for joining domains:
    yum install sssd realmd oddjob oddjob-mkhomedir adcli samba-common samba-common-tools krb5-workstation openldap-clients policycoreutils-python
